On the morning of May 13, 2017, Terry Brest, age 71, passed peacefully to Heaven to be reunited with his parents, Mary Bishop Brest and Edward Louis Brest, as well as his brother, Christopher Brest Bishop.

"A Wonderful Man" Terry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Regina "Gina" Miller Brest and two loving daughters, Jennifer Brest (Dave) and Kimberly Ledbetter (Joel). Terry's three grandchildren were the lights of his life, Jeffrey Raymond Ledbetter, James Terence Ledbetter and Anna Jane Birukova Brest, all of Cary, NC. Terry is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Brest Kiesel, Mary Brest Watson and Priscilla Keelan Bishop, as well as their children and grandchildren.

Terry was born and raised in College Point, New York where he attended St. Fidelis School, Holy Cross High School and Iona College. After serving his country in the U.S. Air Force, he married his high school sweetheart, Gina. He then began a forty year career with IBM which brought them to North Carolina in 1985.

After retiring ten years ago, Terry enjoyed cruising and traveling in Europe. Woodworking, reading, photography, volunteering at "USO-NC-RDU", The Center for Volunteer Caregiving, The Apex Lions, and his neighborhood were all high on his list of activities, but "Family Time" was most important.

A celebration of Terry's life will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC on Tuesday, May 16 from 5:00-8:00pm.

The funeral mass will be held Wednesday, May 17 at 1:00pm at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 804 High House Road, Cary, NC, followed by military honors and a reception for all in the Parish Center.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to "USO-NC-RDU" at Terminal 2, RDU Airport, Morrisville, NC, "The Center for Volunteer Caregiving" at 1150 SE Maynard Rd, Cary, NC 27511, or "Transitions LifeCare" at 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.

The entire family would like to thank the many people who cared for Terry through his illness: family, friends, strangers and neighbors as well as the staff at Heartfields Assisted Living in Cary and Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh.
