Susie and John were very devoted to each other during their 63 years of marriage and if you saw one of them you usually saw the other. They dedicated their lives to raising their children and were happiest during family gatherings. Once the children were grown, Susie went to work for the Employment Security Commission (ESC) in 1975. She retired in 1993 after 18 years as a supervisor in the Accounts Payable division. Susie and John also spent many happy days with family at their beach house in Cape Carteret, NC and loved to travel, including taking cruises. They loved to attend theatrical plays and Susie also greatly enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, reading, and watching British mysteries on TV. She was an avid flower arranger and created many beautiful arrangements which decorated her home in Cary.

Susie and John were one of the founding families of St Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Cary, and most recently were members of Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Mission in Cary. Susie was very active in the church and was a member of the finance committee, the Eucharistic ministry, and served as a Scripture Reader. She was passionate about her church family and was instrumental in founding the Building Fund for the Mother Teresa Catholic Mission.
