Lovina Senseman Resick died on October 11, 2016 at the age of 97.

The youngest and last survivor of four children, born in Chicago on October 7, 1919, Lovina spent most of her childhood in Ashland, Ohio and like her parents, graduated from Ashland College (now Ashland University). Lovina was an accomplished athlete, particularly in tennis, basketball, and field hockey. She met her husband, Matthew C. Resick at Ashland College and they were married upon graduation in 1941. Matthew, now deceased, spent four years in the Army during World War II, while she worked at various jobs. After the war, Lovina and Matt moved to Columbus, where he earned his doctorate at Ohio State and they began their family of three children. After graduating, Matt took a faculty position at Kent State University where they spent three decades. Lovina was primarily a wife and mother, but taught at Kent State University part-time. Lovina and Matthew traveled to dozens of countries after traveling all over the US. They were both avid bridge players, especially Lovina who was a gold life master player. Altogether, Lovina spent 35 years in Florida after their retirement; however, Lovina eventually moved to Durham, North Carolina in 2013 to be near family. Like her husband of 60 years, her younger daughter Cathy predeceased Lovina.

She is survived by her son Thomas Resick, his wife Jan and their two sons Nathan and Grant; her daughter Patricia Resick and husband R. Keith Shaw, and their sons R. Martin ("Marty") and Matthew; and, Cathy's husband Joe Leighton, granddaughter Lindsey Sobeck, her husband Jeremy and great grandchildren Leighton and Benson; and granddaughter Cara.
