Leslie Haile Giles, 77, of Cary, NC, died December 28, 2013 at WakeMed Cary. He was born in Chatham, VA and graduated from Bluefield College, University of Richmond and Southeastern Seminary. Les, who was known as Red by his childhood friends, served God faithfully for 37 years as pastor of Hester Baptist Church in Oxford, NC, Farmville Baptist in Farmville, VA and Ephesus Baptist in Raleigh, NC. Leslie Haile Giles, 77, of Cary, NC, died December 28, 2013 at WakeMed Cary. He was born in Chatham, VA and graduated from Bluefield College, University of Richmond and Southeastern Seminary. Les, who was known as Red by his childhood friends, served God faithfully for 37 years as pastor of Hester Baptist Church in Oxford, NC, Farmville Baptist in Farmville, VA and Ephesus Baptist in Raleigh, NC. In addition to his pastoral ministry, he made numerous mission trips both in the US and in India, Honduras, Brazil and Mozambique. He will be remembered as a loving husband, a faithful father and thoughtful friend who never forgot an anniversary or birthday.

Les is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joanne Byrd Giles; his daughter, Brenda Jenkins and husband, John, of Lexington, KY; sons, William and David Giles of Cary, NC; and grandchildren, Sarah and Ross Jenkins, August and Spencer Giles, and Rachel and Lauren Giles.

Family visitation will be at Westwood Baptist Church, 200 Westhigh Street in Cary from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 also at Westwood Baptist Church. Burial at Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery, 6767 Hillsborough Street in Raleigh will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the mission ministries of Ephesus Baptist Church in Raleigh or Westwood Baptist Church in Cary.
